At Seoul Fashion Week 2024, LG Display unveiled a revolutionary innovation: flexible, stretchable screens integrated into clothing and accessories. These screens, which can be bent, stretched and twisted without losing performance, mark a significant advance in the integration of technology into the fashion sector.
Designers Youn-Hee Park and Chung-Chung Lee collaborated with LG Display to integrate these screens into unique outfits and accessories, which were presented on the catwalk. Among the creations, garments, sleeves and even evening clutches featuring these screens captured the public's attention. The screens can be stretched from 12 to 14 inches while maintaining a resolution of 100 pixels per inch, demonstrating their adaptability to irregular surfaces such as fabric or even human skin.
The project is part of a national program supported by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with the aim of exploring the commercialization of stretchable displays. LG Display has already developed prototypes of this technology in 2022, and the advances presented at Fashion Week show that this innovation could find applications in various sectors, such as fashion, wearable devices, and even mobility solutions.
This innovation could transform the way we interact with screens, paving the way for wearable and flexible technologies that could revolutionize entire industries. LG Display is positioning itself as a leader in the integration of technology into everyday products, with flexible displays that promise to change the way we perceive fashion and technology.
